In this globalisation era, which proves to be continuously beneficial for the South-Asian as well as the other developing economies, there are some instances that make you feel that this much of time, money and intellectual investment into the process is not worth it. One of the recent example of the theory stated above is the standoff between the ruling Congress Party and a very strong ally of the government formed, the CPI and the CPI {M} which together form the Left-Wing of the Indian Multi-Party system.
The Left parties play an inexorably significant and a very interesting role in the Indian government. Subsequently, the Left supports the government with the seats in the parliament but is not a partner with the the congress when it comes to power sharing or rather obtaining the ministerial positions at the center. This helps them to keep a check at all the things that the government does. And quite logically or rather in a very straight manner they do this by making the congress realize that the actually have a very strong role to play in forming the government.
But this kind of a unique arrangement in the government came to one of the most horrible and embarrassing halt a couple of weeks ago. The Indian Premier Mr. Manmohan Singh was one of the most disappointed and the embarrassed as the Left threatened to pull the trigger if the government was willing to go ahead with the 123 - N deal. Various eminent journalist and media personnel of the sub-continent gave out there deep insights as to why the Left was opposing the deal and other aspects of it. There is a considerable number of the critics that believe that the major reason that the Left opposes this beneficial-to-India and its masses-deal is because the Left has got nothing more than the ideology against the U.S. As it is, they cannot openly support the decisions taken by the neighbouring country which would pass the correct message and the intentions to the masses which the Left cannot afford to , following the countrywide perception of the our neighbour. Moreover, the Left wing parties have been known as parties which have an agenda everytime they make the headlines.
Unfortunately this time they don't have a proper agenda but the anti-Americanism in place disguised as "in the national interest". Only time will tell the repercussions of the deal not being effective between the two countries and unfortunately {again} , its the common man who is going to suffer because of an over-ambitious party headed by Prakash Karat to whom the the ideology is more important than the masses themselves.
